Update From Cam - December 2, 2011

Happy December 2nd, everyone.

I am currently sitting in Club 919 waiting for Bedouin Soundclash to load in. We just found out are set is 30 minutes and we start at 7:30! It's been advertised as an early show so I'm hoping people arn't still eating dinner when we start :)

We have a bit of a break coming up over the holidays as Pat is traveling to Europe for a month. In the new year we have a short trip up to Revelstoke and back for a few shows. After that is a week of recording with our new friend Sean Carrie. Hoping to come out with a fresh new EP in the spring.

Love you all,

Cam

Update From Rod - October 17, 2011

Yo.

Can't say I'm not feeling a little worn down from this tour. The combo of tacos, beer, sun, late nights, early mornings and loud music can be pretty draining. That being said, we rocked harder than ever last night at the Doll Hut in Anaheim. It's like a block away from Disneyland. We could even see the fireworks from our hotel. We played with a couple bands from Seattle, SXO and Joyfield and a rad band from Austin, Texas called Cartright.

Let me back track a bit though. A couple nights ago we were in LA. We had a night off so we hit Hollywood Boulevard and popped off! It was incredible. Everything was so damn big. Kind of intimidating really...The next morning we hit Venice Beach to hand out some CD's. That night we played Michael's Pub in North Hollywood. It's got to be the king of dive bars...just nasty..But we had a wicked time. This morning we are off to Oceanside, about an hour south of Anaheim.

Did I mention my mom joined us for the SoCal leg of the tour?? She flew down to party and hook us up with a little mothering on the road. I hope you are enjoying our video blogs! We miss everyone back home and can't wait to rock the Sunshine Coast and Victoria when we get home. Check our Facebook page for more info

Update From Pat - October 11, 2011

Hey! Pat here.

I’m beat! Got pounded by the sun. We hung out at Pismo beach today. We’re getting more and more south as the days go on. Our show tonight is in a town called San Luis Obispo. We handed out loads of free discs and then hit the beach.

We were around the San Francisco bay area for a few days there. We played San Jose, Vallejo, and Yuba City. Stayed at the lovely Aunt Debbie’s (DK’s aunt). The tour is going really well. Despite the amount of money it’s costing, we’re meeting lots of cool people and making great connections for future tours.

I gotta lounge for a bit here before the show, so I’ll stop buggin ya. Thanks for stoppin by.

Love, Pat!

Update From Pozzie - October 7, 2011

Hello everybody!

Been a while since my update so I’ve got some things to tell you! As most of you probably know, we are on our first US tour and it’s been a blast. Been gone a week but it seems like 2. We have had a pretty eventful couple days.

We spent two days in Portland, Oregon and had a pretty good time. The next day we drove to Medford, Oregon, played a show, then decided to just drive south instead of spending the night. So Pat and I got fired up on energy drinks and drove all the way to Fairfield, California to DK’s aunts place (aunt Debby) . We arrived at about 7:4 5 am and just crashed.

The next day we headed down to San Jose and handed out CDs and rocked a show at the Caravan. We brought the rain with us all the way to California, but today the sun is shining- loving it. That’s all for now everybody. Hope you’re all well and rocking out. Adios!

Update From DK - September 23, 2011

Greetings!

A week from today we will be on our way to the US border to embark on our first tour of the United States. For the next week we will be making last minute preparations, tying up lose ends, etc etc. We are all very excited! I just glanced over our itinerary again and it's totally jam packed. Very little time to do much of anything except drive, play shows, hand out free CD's, and of course haul gear. We will be keeping a regular video blog of the tour as well, similar to our last tour, but we're gonna get an even better camera this time. Our good friends Conner and Marty will be joining us for this tour to help out with filming, merch, mailing lists etc!

This weekend we are playing Rifflandia 4 here in Victoria and we secured an awesome spot at the Royal Athletic Park - 2pm on Saturday. Be there!

On a personal level, been pretty down this week as my dog of 12.5 years passed away on Tuesday. I've never had a dog die before and man it sucks.

Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues
Supersession - Season Of The Witch (cover)

Update From Cam - August 29, 2011

Hey, party people. Sorry my update is so late! It will not happen again!

August has been good for the old MBM crew (besides our van breaking down...for good this time). The weather couldn't be better and my fair skin has even developed a slight tan. Our gigs this month have all been more than awesome so let me give you a brief recap. The weekend of the 5th/6th we played Moby's on Salt Spring with my main man Kyle Huamali and the Bowen Island Pub with Wasabi Fox.. Great band, good times.

The following weekend (Aug 13th) we played the Big Time Out in Cumberland, which was the downfall of our van but still one of the best times of this summer. If you haven't heard of Kim Churchill, Dub FX or Beats Antique, please check them out. All blew my mind. Big thanks to our new friend Angie for lending me a sweater.

After that we made a trip back to play our old stomping grounds on the Sunshine Coast after a quick stop at Joe's Apartment in Vancouver. Very fun weekend seeing family, friends and eating mom's turkey chilli.

This past weekend we played the Fringe Festival. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported us making the show probably my favourite show to date. Congratulations to our friends Aaron and Nicole who were engaged on stage that night.. It was magic, video coming soon. We are taking a small break from gigging now in order to get everything prepared for our October tour and hopefully write some new music. Rifflandia on September 24th is up next.

Enjoy the rest of the summer everyone!

Update From Rod - July 20, 2011

Hello, World.

MBM has been as busy as ever, working long hours to prepare for our first Western USA tour. As I write this we have 8 shows confirmed, but I'm hoping that gets bumped up to 10 by the end of they day. Considering the Summer we are having here in Vic, I'm pretty excited to head south. We'll be only hours away from Mexico at the bottom end of the tour.

This weekend we are heading over to Texada Island to play Nicole and Adam's wedding. It's always a good party when the theme of the night is love. Some of you might have seen the video of us jumping into the quarry on Texada last time we were there. We are all a little more mature now (yah right...) so that probably won't be happening this time.

Tomorrow morning I'm heading over to the Sunshine Coast to visit the family. I'll always love coming home. Especially because my dad has a pretty nice TV and like 5 boxes of BBC Earth blue rays. If you get the chance, check out Nature's Most Amazing Events: The Great Flood.

But, before I go to any of those other places I've gotta head downtown and check out the International Buskers Festival in the inner harbour. It's pretty crazy. Yesterday I saw an English fellow get himself out of a straight jacket and chains. Don't see that every day.....

Cheers,

Rod

Update From Pat - July 8, 2011

Hey hey! My new house is so cool! Our room is huge with a fire place in it. A fire place!

We recently played Tall Tree Festival in Port Renfrew B.C. It has to be one of prettiest venues I've been to. It's on top of a mountain with a killer view, and all the camping is teetering off the edge.

That was a brief period of brilliance before we lost the competition we were pushing for. We got pretty far in the Fox Seeds contest in Vancouver. We got beat out for the top 3 to awesome, deserving bands. And you win some you lose some. It'll bring us back down to earth after riding a big high from the B.C. tour we recently came back from.

And we're cookin' a tour up for October as well. We're gonna dip down to the States for the first time as a band. Bam! Can't wait. Well, my new roommate is making banana boats on the barby so I'll catch ya next time.

Yours Truly,

Patrick

The Dead Weather - Old Mary
The Temptations - Just My Imagination

Update From Poz - June 21, 2011

Hey everyone, my turn again for a little update! Hope everyone is doing great. Well, we've been home from our tour for about a week now, feels good to be back in Vic. We had such a great time going across the province, met some amazing people, and were treated like kings!.

This past Friday we had our Fox Seeds showcase at the Roxy in Vancouver and it was amazing. Thanks to everyone who voted for us and helped us get into the Top 20, couldn't of done it without you. Thank you so much to all our fans and friends who made it out to the show and all the Fox Seeds judges for taking the time to listen to us.

We are heading up to Port Renfrew for Tall Tree Festval this weekend and we're stoked! Hope to see some of you there. Thats all for now folks. Take care and enjoy the sunshine!

P.S. In case you all didnt know, the Chili Peppers are dropping a new album August 30th and it's rumoured we are going to hear the first single in mid July. So in lieu of that, here's one of my fav Chili Peppers songs.

Pozzie's Pick

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Funky Crime

Update From DK - June 9, 2011

We are up at Sun Peaks right now (outside Kamloops) on the final leg of our Fox Seeds Tour. No shows today so Rod, Cam and I went for an epic hike up in the mountains to McGillvary Lake.. felt great to get outside and do something healthy!

A few days ago we were in Banff playing 2 nights at the SameSun Hostel. Good times, great food. It's shocking how many Australians worked there - I don't think there was a single Canadian. We had a couple fun shows at the hostel which was probably our most 'intimate' room we have played during this tour.

During our stay there, we learned that we were selected into the TOP 20 of The Fox Seeds Competition, which was great news! Our showcase will be at the Roxy (on Granville) in Vancouver on Friday June 17th at 9:45PM. If your reading this blog, and you live in or near Vancouver, please come to our showcase! Check out www.mbmvancouver.com for all the details.

Go Canucks! (I'm on the band-wagon)

Update From Cam - May 30, 2011

Hey :) It's Cam.

I’ve got a lot of stuff to write about but am finding it hard to put into words for some reason. It’s been a busy tour.

We’ve managed to have awful weather so far but we’ve allowed the good times to keep us feeling wonderful. We did a gig in Kelowna on Friday night at Doc Willoughby’s. It was an absolute blast. The night after we had an acoustic performance at the Talking Donkey in Vernon.

Right now we’re in Penticton waiting outside of Voodoo’s (the spot we’re playing tonight) but no one seems to be there to let us in. I think it might be a bust! But the Okanagan is such a beautiful place. I always love coming here.

We had some amazing people take us into their homes and treat us like part of their family - Gabby Marquez, Tiffany James, and the Bryant family, to name a few.

Tomorrow we find out if we made it into the top 50 of the Fox Seeds Competition. I’m getting nervous, but always hoping for the best.

Love, Cam.

Cam's Pick

Dio - Holy Diver

Update From Rod - May 19, 2011

Hi,

What a busy time this has been. Getting ready for this tour has been a lot of work. Yesterday, Cam, Poz and I went downtown to do a little clothes shopping so we look fresh on the road. Cam is our resident fashion expert. I feel like we are all ready now and I can’t wait to get the van fired up and hit the road. Except for the gas prices, this is the perfect time of year to be cruising around BC.

The Fox Seeds competition is in full swing now and I think our friends and fans have been doing a great job of voting consistently. If anyone in Victoria manages to vote every single day from now until the end of the competition, let me know and we’ll all plan a day to go downtown – BEERS ON ME! In case you haven’t started voting yet, you can get going here -> www.mbmseeds.com

We leave tomorrow, but another big event is happening tomorrow as well. My cat, Willow (ok, she's not actually mine, she belongs to my roommate's girlfriend - but I love her!), is getting her cone off. She got spayed earlier in the week and is wearing a cone for the first time in her life. I was thinking, if you’re a cat, and you get your first cone, you must have no idea that it’s ever going to come off. You probably figure this is the way it’s going to be forever and get super depressed. I’m stoked for it come off and to watch her get back to her playful self.

Rod's Picks

Mac Miller - Keep Floatin'
Lupe Fiasco - Til I Get There

Update From Pat - May 8, 2011

HEY! Pat here. Last night I saw Thor at the movies, pretty entertaining. The whole theatre gasped when he took his shirt off, my girlfriend included. Pffff I'll do some pushups today, show him. In 2 weeks we're gonna set off on a tour to Banff and back. We just bought a percussion set up for the stage which will make our show way more cool. We'll be shooting a video blog to update you on the tour. Speaking of videos we made a few live recordings called the 'Lemon Tree Sessions'. The first video is out, right here on our site. It's called 'Mankind'. Let us know what you think!!!

ps. The 'Machines' video is almost here, about 3 weeks away!!
pps. Happy mothers day!!!

Pat's picks this week!!

Rubik - Laws Of Gravity
The Fatty Acids - Light Polluted Constellations
Lukestar - Flying Canoes

Update From Poz - April 27, 2011

Hey people! It's my turn again! Well, things are going pretty good with the ol' mbm boys lately. Today we played EMCS highschool in Sooke for the second time, this time with to the senior students, and it was awesome. We've got a nice little tour coming up at the end of May which we are all pumped for. It's been way too long since we have been out on the road, so we're all looking forward to playing shows and acting immature in the van! Our buddies, Conner and Kyle, will be riding along with us documenting the tour and helping us out. We'll keep you posted with tour blogs! That's all for now, friends. Thank you so much for listening to our music and being so awesome

Update From DK - April 18, 2011

Yo ! DK here and its my turn for an update on what's going on lately. . . It's Monday morning now and a beauty of a day outside !

This past weekend with went on a 2 date jaunt up island and played shows in Courtenay and Mount Washington. Both shows went really well. We had the pleasure of working with two great sound men (always a bonus) and playing for some great crowds. Special thanks to Jesse from "Lightburn Productions" for hooking up the events for us this weekend. The show in Courtenay was at 'The Bridge' and it was our third time playing there. This time was the best for sure as the place was full.. ARISE (reggae band from vic) opened for us and did a great job too. The Mount Washington gig was a fun one because we got to play 3 sets for an intimate but passionate crowd. There was this guy at the show (whose name was Scott I think) that said he was snowboarding that day and listened to our track 'What Happened To The Blue Skies' three times on his ipod while riding.. pretty cool !! Mt. Washington hooked us up really nicely with a couple chalets to stay in, fabulous meals, and a staggering 8 drink tickets each, which is by far the most we have received from any bar so far. Thanks to Robb from Mt. Washington for the hospitality !

We are heading to Vancouver this Friday to play the Media Club with our homies The Novamatics and a Vancouver band called Wasabi Fox.. if you missed our show at Joe's Apartment (or if you want to come see us again) come on out to the Media Club on Friday !!

DK's picks: Donovan - Atlantis and Xzibit - Get Your Walk On

Update From Cam - March 27, 2011

G'day. Had a good weekend? Me too... Skim Jam was a hell of a lot of fun, the part I was there for anyway. I actually missed the the skim comp because Pozy is working weekends so we left for Renfrew later on in the day. Silly Pozy.

It was our first gig back since my ATV accident and it felt awesome to be back on stage. The crowd was small but the vibes were good and Keith 'Chopper' Gallant the soundMAN had us sounding hype.

We shared the stage with Half Broke Horse, friends of ours from the Sunshine Coast. A night featuring HBH, MBM and lots and lots of games.

Watching the Junos now, not liking Hedley's performance at all. Heard a rumor that Said the Whale won Best New Group.. Excited for those guys!

Cams pick: Astronomers by We Are The City

Update From Rod - March 20, 2011

Hello hello. It's Rod. Just coming off a huge weekend. We finished up the shooting for our music video for 'Machines'. What a great experience. Everyone we got to work with was so fantastic. BIG thank you to all the extras that came out. The video should be done sometime in the latter half of April. Also, a huge thank you to Robbie Geyer, a music blogger from Auburn Univerity in Alabama, for writing about us in his blog, Flashy Lights.

My softball team (The Saanich Dirty Birds) had our first two games of the season today and we won both!! I haven't played baseball in years and it feels really good to be back on the field. We sure could use some warmer weather though...

I just capped off my weekend with 'Secretariat,' a feel-good horse racing movie. Tomorrow I'm back at the hospital using my receptionist skills to save lives. Oh! I'll be in Vancouver with Cam this Wednesday handing out CD's to promote our show at Joe's Apartment on the 7th. I love going to Vancouver because I get to eat Red Burrito!

Take care everyone! Hope to see some of you at the Skim Jam in Port Renfrew this weekend. Keep sending positive vibes to our brothers and sisters in Japan!!

Rod

Update From Pat - March 14, 2011

Hey hey! Pat here. Just ate some chimichangas and chocolate brownie cherry ice-cream. It's pretty tasty want some? The night before last we were out in a junkyard shooting our first music video for our tune 'Machines'. We're pumped for it. The team we have is awesome. They were using a big lift for some aerial shots and pyrotechnics. There's gonna be more shooting next week. It's been awesome, a first for us. We'll keep you updated! Until then have an awesome week good people! Happy Paddy's Day!!!

Update From Pos - March 6, 2011

Greetings! Poz here with a little MBM update. First of all I hope everyone is doing well, rocking out, and listening to lots of good music. DK covered all of the fun stuff last week!. As you all know we have had a little bit of an unexpected break , but we're about to start kicking things into high gear again. Lots of shows, videos and lots of new songs ( Yes!!!). I am especially excited to get busy again because in this time off I have been working way up in Port Renfrew and there's been nothing but snow and rain! Miserable. I have also been listening to lots and lots of new music which is always super refreshing, and also rediscovering some of my old favourites i havent listened to in ages!, and also getting into Motley Crue. Well that's all for now folks, we'll be back before too long and head bangin in a town near you! love, Poz ps. Pozzies pick ( Foster the people- pumped up kicks)

Update From DK - Feb 27, 2011

Hey guys, DK here with this week's MBM update. . . We've had a really busy week doing lots of planning for the months ahead, tons of exciting stuff on the go. We have two music videos currently in pre production, 'No Time' and 'Machines'. We are super stoked on the concepts for both videos and have great teams assembled to create them. I will be launching a Facebook event later this week to begin rounding up extras for the 'Machines' video shoot which will be happening in March. We've also got a few 'Live in the Rehearsal Studio' session videos that are in the post production phase.. those should be released in the next couple of weeks. Roddy has been applying for lots of festivals and we have already been offered a headlining spot at 'The Edge of the World' festival this summer on Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Islands). Just awaiting confirmation on that festival but its looking very promising! Aside from that, Cam seems to be healing up really well. As he said in his post last week, he is eager to get back on the kit but we are cautioning him to take is slow as we don't want to prolong his healing time at all. He's good to go though, up and about, looks as handsome as ever. We'll be back on stage in no time at all!! As for me personally this past little while.. been working hard as well as taking it really easy.. watching Lord of the Rings extended editions, listening to my new current favorite band Thin Lizzy, and last friday I celebrated my 24th birthday with a bunch of friends and had 4 birthday cakes over the course of the weekend. Thanks for reading and stay tuned for all things MBM ! Peace, DK

Update From Cam - Feb 20, 2011

Hey guys it's Cam. I'm finally off the pain killers and feeling fully mobile after the ATV accident. I walked away from the crash with a bruised and slightly punctured lung, two cracked spinal flares and some bruised ribs. I'm feeling very fortunate that the cracks in my spine are not deeper. I should be fully recovered in 4 weeks. I'm ready to start rehearsing again now, but my silly bandmates think it will prolong my healing. I'M FINE!!!!
